NAMS Conference
Jianan Gao, a second year Ph.D. Candidate at NJIT, present his poster on “Electrochemically Selective Ammonia Extraction from Nitrate wastewater” with funding support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) PFI grant (Award number: 2016472) and NSF INTERN grant (Award number: 1836036). His research mainly focused on 1) rational surface/interface design and synthesis of functional materials for electrocatalytic wastewater treatment applications; 2) electrochemically reactive membrane filtration system, assessment of water purification, resources recovery, disinfection performance, membrane fouling, and surface reactivity behavior.
Qingquan Ma, a third year Ph.D. Candidate at NJIT, made poster presentation on “Electrochemical Membrane Aging and Oxides of halogen Formation” with funding support from the NSF and NSF I-Corps grants (Award number: 1756444), NSF PFI grant (Award number: 2016472), NSF INTERN grant (Award number: 1836036), United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) P3 Program under Assistance Agreement No. (83945201) and 2019-2020 New Jersey Water Resources Research Institute (NJWRRI) Grant (Award number: 2020NJ025B). His research mainly focused on 1) synthesis and characterization of different facet nanomaterials and related density functional theory calculation; 2) electrochemically reactive membrane aging and fouling during filtration characterization using electrochemical methods and hybrid scanning electrochemical microscope- atomic force microscope.

Poster presentation: Electrochemically Selective Ammonia Extraction from Nitrate wastewater
Poster presentation: Electrochemical Membrane Aging and Oxides of halogen Formation
On Aug 30th, 2021, Dr. Wen Zhang’s team members joined the NAMS in Colorado and presented their research.
Fangzhou Liu, a second year Ph.D. Candidate at NJIT, presented his poster on Microwave-assisted Catalytic Inactivation for Bacteriophage MS2. This research is funded by 2020-2023 National Science Foundation-Interfacial Engineering Program, 2020-2021 EPA. P3 phase I, 2020-2021 United States Department of Interior via Bureau of Reclamation, 2019 EPA SBIR Phase I and 2021 Provost URI Summer Research Fellowship Award. His research aims to apply microwave-assisted membrane filtration system to contaminants degradation and virus inactivation.
